CJ is a scientist-educator with experience in dispute resolution and negotiation. He has a BA (Class I Hons) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD from MIT. Emily is Practice Fellow to Mr. J. Christopher Thomas QC and assists him on international commercial and investment arbitrations as well as other matters related to international arbitration where he was appointed as amicus curiae or as an expert. Publicly-reported arbitration and court cases include Antin Infrastructure Services and other v Spain (ICSID case), Louis Dreyfus Armateurs SAS (France) v India (PCA case), Natland Investment Group N.V. and others v Czech Republic (PCA case), Perenco v Ecuador (ICSID case) and Sanum Investments Limited v The Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, [2016] SGCA 57, and Swissbourgh Diamond Mines et al v Kingdom of Lesotho (as assistant to the amici curiae before the Singapore Court of Appeal). She is also currently acting as tribunal secretary in two SIAC arbitrations before tribunals chaired by Mr. Thomas QC and by former Attorney-General VK Rajah SC. Emily is a member of the CIArb Sub-Committee on Witness Conferencing in International Arbitration.
